Interview from One Million Wild Hearts

The team of One Million Wild Hearts has interviewed me for their recent project and here’s the full interview taken from their website.

As a womxn, why do you think it is important to create?

I’d say, as a person, to create means to have an outlet and to keep myself “sane.” I create to make use of what was given to me (my talent and interests) and share it with everyone. I could inspire others and above all, myself, to keep on going

What has been your proudest moment as an artist/creative?

All of my art activities which involve traveling

How do you define love?

Love is being able to be yourself without the fear of not being loved back

Describe the space that you like to create in?

A space in nature. Since it’s not possible all the time as I live in the city, then a massive work area with huge windows where I could see the skies and the stars at night with a really good sound system

What do you like to listen to while you create?

Psytrance music, sometimes ambient psy music or chill out

How do you make time to create?

I make sure that I create everyday or do something for my art everyday, like planning ahead, creating some goals, doodling or even arranging my old and new works, keeping in touch with people for projects, even for just a few hours, as long as I do something about it constantly. If I don’t create, my mind would have lots of space for ugly things that I get from the world

How does your mental health affect your work?

It’s important, I guess. You need to constantly manage your mindset and train your mind

What is your earliest memory of making art?

When I was a little kid, I would doodle with my sister as our Dad would often give us lots of paper and some pens specifically for it

Do you have any words of advice for young womxn/artist/creators out there?

Don’t let anything get into your head. It’s a major turn-off.

What social issues do you care about most?

Climate change. In the Philippines, alot, including inefficient processes of government offices

What could you not live without?

Truest friends and family- you don’t see some of them alot on my photos but they’re always there. My art, nature and dance music.

Who are your influences/inspirations?

Got the art influence from my dad when I was growing up, I wouldn’t probably know there’s art without him. Biggest inspiration and influence now would be the artists that create dance music and visual artists who explore the arts beyond painting or any other traditional practices

What message do you want to spread with your art?

Pursue your passion in all good ways possible. Always focus on what you can do. Help yourself so that you can share yourself with others positively
