A solemn visit to Ubud Palace where the Ubud Royal family used to live. This led me to read more about Ubud and its origins.
To make a long story short, Ubud came from the word “ubad” that means medicine. Medicinal plants abound Campuhan Village, an area in Ubud, which by the way, I was also able to explore for the first time during this trip. Where did we go last time?
Anyway, so these ancient, healing plants were in abundance hence they baptized the place Ubad which eventually became Ubud.
And all these stories began when a priest had a divine intervention telling him to bury 5 precious stones on a mountain and this mountain happens to be in Bali.
Now let’s take a look at Ubud Palace and its architectural wonders.
You’ll see this familiar wall the moment you walked in the gate.
This area was off-limits, so gotta zoom my camera to capture the statue.
The gate.
Might not be the best quality of photo, but this is one of my favorite Bali photos now. It does look like I’m heading towards the gate of Heaven. The sun rays bursting through made me wonder if this is part of the construction process of the palace. It’s amazing!
Time to head out to The Lotus Temple!
