Neon Jellyfish: When Art Becomes Reality

Neon Jellyfish: When Art Becomes Reality

In 2021, I painted this vibrant neon artwork of a jellyfish. I’ve always been obsessed with glowing colors, especially under a blacklight in a dark room. There’s something so alive and otherworldly about that kind of glow!

Recently, this artwork found its meaning during a kayaking trip in Port Barton.

As I paddled across the calm, crystal-clear waters, I suddenly saw a huge jellyfish drifting beneath me. Alive, quiet, and glowing faintly in the light. So captivating! The setting was incredibly peaceful, with only the sound of nature around me. The moment felt so surreal, well, at the same time, a little scary. There was only the kayak between me and the unknown depths of the water . And while the jellyfish was beautiful, it also gave off this eerie vibe. Still, it was as if my painting had come to life!

Looking back, my 2021 artwork feels like a premonition, an intuitive connection with nature before the real thing happened. The glowing hues I once thought were just dreamlike aesthetics now feel rooted in reality, like I had unknowingly painted a glimpse of my future. Funny, because during those days, I felt so trapped in the city. And now, somehow, I’ve found my freedom. I was only painting it back then.
