Away at the Beach with my Art

SIARGAO ISLAND
Philippines

In the middle of November, I returned to Siargao Island and continued what I consider a personal retreat. There were extremely significant matters that I had to figure out, so I left the city. While enjoying the beach and what the island had to offer, I keep working on my art.

I constantly battle with the pressure of keeping up with rules- to work, work, work, and be on time. Given that this was mostly a break from more than a year and a half long quarantine in the city and more of a personal work that does not involve another individual or team, I took my time and own pace with these art pieces.

(Dec 2021) Above photos were taken during breakfast with my sister. We were at Cafe Loka, Cloud 9. I recall changing the image of the surfer after hearing feedback from my sister that she didn’t like the position of the legs of my main character.

Taken after swimming at Malinao Beach with my sister, it rained so hard, we had to chill in the cottage first. Funny that I had my sports cam (which was fastened on my bike) on the whole time, it actually recorded our entire conversation.

The artwork, at this stage, looks done, but there were details I had to polish and colors that needed to change.
