A Universe in the Dark
“Traveling has made a marked influence on Lhean’s artistic sensibilities and style. Coming from a tropical country with stunning vistas and lush landscapes, Lhean has always been inspired by nature and its multifaceted splendour. Her recent trip to Gua Kechil in Raub, Pahang, Malaysia spawned her latest painting series which delves into the immersive experience of exploring this cave that has been carved by nature and steeped in history. In these series of artworks, she used the natural flow of acrylics to simulate the graceful lines of the cave and create texture on canvas. The limited light illuminating the cave emphasizes the contrast between light and dark. This became a spiritual and meditative experience for the artist. New painting waiting for its soulmate Couldn’t find my process photos. I probably didn’t take them, at some point I almost abandoned this work and didn’t think it would still transform into something that would be satisfying (at least, from my point-of-view.)
