New Piece: TROPICAL SANCTUARY

I’m grateful that I have a habit of safekeeping sketchbooks, abandoned drawings, and random doodles. Sequels come in handy for fresher pieces.

The idea of  TROPICAL SANCTUARY, originated from one of my works few years back, although this time, I’m toying with a whole new concept with it and a more vibrant theme. The process is also much more interesting as it goes its usual lengthy journey, probably what I enjoy the most each and every time I create. Still inherent to my usual flow, is the idea of us humans merging with nature.

Process

Showing a short-cut of the elements’ evolution below adding some flowers and an animal native to my country, Waling-waling and Tarsier.

Waling-waling is known as the “Queen of Philippine Orchids” and the Tarsier, a nocturnal, tiny creature that prefers a stealth life, is famous in the province of Bohol, home of the Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, and pristine white sand beaches. I’ve only been there once, but I promised to return and whenever I promise to go back to a certain place, it always feel like I leave something behind and the only time I’ll get it back is when I actually return and take it home with me.

About TROPICAL SANCTUARY

As an earth sign, I re-energize through reconnecting with Mother Nature. In this piece, I’d like to capture when nature seems to be calling, echoing from the boundlessness of the obscure, continually waiting for me to pause and be in tune with it.
